Job Description

This position is responsible for the development, execution, maintenance, and validation of processes & procedures for the 3-GIS fiber design tool.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Develop and apply advanced techniques to ensure the 3-GIS tool is utilized to the maximum efficiency to ensure clients scope of work is achieved
  2. Analyze and execute process improvements and provide training and support when applicable
  3. Execute connection management and network allocations of fiber FDH/FDT, PON, NID, LCP background
  4. Provide technical guidance to 3-GIS designers
  5. Validate 3-GIS data
  6. Utilize survey reports, maps, aerial photography, drawings, and other geographic data for consideration in fiber design
  7. Ensure adherence to design standards across the engineering disciplines and product lines
  8. Maintain quality standards based on customer and Company expectations
  9. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned

Job Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Four-year college degree, or equivalent experience resulting in broad knowledge of a field related to the job, such as engineering technology or science, or related field, plus 5 years related experience and/or training, and 2-3 years related experience with the 3-GIS tool, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

In depth experience in complex ISP design, permits, and fiber networks for commercial and private carriers in both wireline and wireless applications. Experience and exposure to GIS systems (i.e. -GIS Web, 3-GIS Mobile, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Desktop). Construction knowledge preferred, but not required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to read and understand documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organization. 

DECISION MAKING
Performs work operations which permit frequent opportunity for decision-making of minor importance and also frequent opportunity for decision-making of major importance; the latter of which would affect the work operations of other employees and/or clientele to a moderate degree.

USE OF MACHINES, EQUIPMENT AND/OR COMPUTERS
Regular use of complex machines and equipment (desktop/laptop computer and software, etc.)

PUBLIC CONTACT
Occasional routine contacts with persons outside the organization. This would include customers, vendors, subcontractors, contacts with suppliers, mail service, etc.

SOFTWARE SKILLS REQUIRED
Advanced: Presentation/PowerPoint, Word Processing/Typing, GIS systems (i.e. -GIS Web, 3-GIS Mobile, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Desktop)

ADDITIONAL SKILLS
Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing. Must have a valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets Company requirements. Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment. May be required to work long and unpredictable hours.

While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, talk or hear; occasionally required to walk.
