Job Description

Job Summary: The Maintenance Foreman provides supervision to Techs 1, 2, and 3 to perform Sweep, PIM, RET, and other tests on RF antenna systems and interprets the results to resolve antenna system issues or to document that new installations are performing to specifications.  The Maintenance Foreman is responsible for ensuring safety procedures are followed at all times.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supervision of site audits and troubleshooting
  • Ensure safety for self and crew members
  • Train and mentor crew members
  • Perform sweep testing, fiber testing, PIM testing, and setting RETs
  • Climb towers and enforce safe rigging practices
  • Input data into customer and in-house software regarding job start/completion times, scope of work, site issues, etc.
  • Review and ensure that all time clock information is correct for his/her crew
  • Provide direction to crane operators engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure the safety of others and material handled
  • Responsible for tool inventory and daily upkeep on job site
  • Perform other tasks as assigned

Job Requirements



  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED); related trade school education preferred


  • Minimum 1.5 years of tower climbing experience
  • Experience leading and/or supervising a crew preferred
  • Advanced knowledge and ability to perform fiber/sweep testing and DC power testing
  • Advanced working knowledge of fall protection practices and procedures and tower lifesaving techniques
  • Advanced knowledge of knots and necessary tower rigging
  • Advanced knowledge of safe climbing techniques

  Technical Skills:

  • Must have or obtain ComTrain Certification or equivalent
  • Must have or obtain OSHA 10, First Aid, and CPR certification
  • Must have or obtain OSHA 30-hour Safety training
  • Must have or obtain documented Authorized Climber & Competent Climber/Rescue Certification from an accredited institution that meets the federal standards
  • Must have completed an RF/EME safety course from a competent provider with documentation
  • Industrial first aid and rescue training
  • Advanced ability to troubleshoot and correct mechanical or electrical connections
  • Advanced proficiency with Sweep Test Equipment, PIM Test Equipment, Fiber Test Equipment, DC Power Test equipment and other devices used to troubleshoot and repair components
  • Demonstrated ability to install remote radio heads, fiber/DC power, and hybrid cables

 Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets Company requirements
  • Must be able to climb and perform work at various heights, up to 500 feet, for long periods of time
  • Must be in good physical condition with the ability to stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 75 lbs; includes body weight, equipment, tools and boxes
  • Must be able to pull his/her own body weight plus equipment weight up a vertical tower repeatedly for long periods of time
  • Must be willing to travel out of market/state up to 100% of the time
  • May be required to work long and unpredictable hours
  • Position requires working outdoors in all types of weather
