Job Description

The A&E Manager is responsible for overseeing, coordinating and completing all aspects of the engineering design of wireless telecommunication sites including raw land sites and colocations on existing towers, antennas, rooftops and water tanks. This position must plan, direct, and coordinate all cellular site deliverables related to the engineering of facilities including site design walk coordination through construction drawing completion. The A&E Manager will direct a technical team in the execution of various engineering assignments including coordinating the completion of surveys, structural analyses, tower mappings and structural design. We require a dependable self-starter with excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills, as well as an ability to work independently on multiple projects at one time. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Coordinates AE Services workload with other managers and staff throughout the company via weekly conference calls, emails, calls, etc.
  • Actively maintains existing and builds new client relationships to bring in work in the markets where their team operates.
  • Assists BD team in the preparation of proposals.
  • Provides reporting on the performance of the team, in accordance with formats provided by management.
  • Reviews regular accounting statements to ensure projects financial goals are met.
  • Exercises responsibility required within areas of technical competence for sealing engineering work performed by the AE Services team.
  • Answers inquiries from internal and external customers.
  • Prepares lease exhibits, zoning drawings, and construction drawings from designs/analyses prepared by others as well as self-generated designs/analyses for equipment on towers and in compounds associated with new sites and collocations/amendments on existing sites, water tanks, rooftops and other facilities.
  • Reviews and applies local, state and federal codes and design parameters.
  • Coordinates with equipment vendors to incorporate vendor equipment data into documents.
  • Redlines documents to be completed by CAD team.
  • Develops and conforms to QA/QC procedures and performs QA/QC of deliverables.
  • Performs CAD as required to complete work.
  • Performs field visits at wireless communication sites to collect accurate dimensions, data and photos for developing deliverables.
  • Receives detailed or rough sketches and reviews with provider of documents to verify accuracy
  • Work with the Accounting Department to ensure all Purchase Orders and Invoices are accurately completed on a weekly basis.

Supervisory Responsibilities                                                       

Carries out supervisory duties in accordance with the Company’s objectives, policies, and applicable laws.  Responsibilities may include; planning, assigning and directing work, training, evaluating performance, escalating employee performance and/or behavioral concerns to the appropriate Operations Manager (or subcontractor), and partnering with HR to resolve escalated employee matters. 

Job Requirements




Education and/or Experience :                                                   

  • Bachelors Degree in a related Engineering Discipline (Civil, Structural, Electrical, Mechanical, Environmental) field, strongly preferred.



  • Detailed knowledge of the wireless infrastructure development process, site acquisition, zoning, permitting, civil construction, and RF equipment installation preferred
  • Minimum of six years’ experience in the wireless telecom industry
  • Experience managing project team to complete all A&E deliverables including site walks, lease exhibits, zoning analysis, zoning drawings, construction drawings, permit and close-out packages


  • Engineer in training (EIT) or Engineering Intern (EI) certification, strongly preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, strongly preferred.
  • National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveyors ("NCEES") certification, preferred.
  • Ability to become licensed as a PE in multiple states via reciprocity, strongly preferred.


Technical Skills:

  • Minimum of four years experience with AutoCAD and two years experience with AutoCAD 2014 or higher.
  • Proficient in computer software programs including Adobe, Word, Outlook and Excel.

 Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets Company requirements
  • Comfortable working in an outdoor and indoor work environment and in extreme weather conditions
  • Must be able to travel to customer sites as needed
  • Must be able to sit at a desk and/or work on a computer for 6-8 hours per day
  • May be required to work long and unpredictable hours
