Job Description

The CAD Drafter 3 is responsible for communications system CAD Drafting as well as departmental and customer communication.  


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepare CAD base-mapping including curb/gutter, centerline, building footprint, etc. (Street layout)
  • Interpret field notes to compile proposed design for running line and/or structures
  • DB loss measurements and Fiber assignments as outlined in client spec documents
  • In depth preparation of all planning and required documentation to upload projects for customer quality control
  • Turnkey design from HUB to HOME
  • Identity roadblocks caused by standards limitations or field survey inconsistencies and execute problem resolution and solutions based ideas to resolve field challenges
  • Ability to directly interface with the customer on day to day issues and meetings
  • Serves as a resource of information for all levels and departments within the Company
  • Ability to train newly hired employees

Job Requirements


  • High school diploma plus 4 years’ experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience



  • Expert level understanding of BOL,BOM design criteria and efficient design in customer applications
  • Highly skilled in customer applications (ICGS/FMS/Spatial, etc.)


Technical Skills:

  • Ability to interface files (excel, google docs and AutoCAD files)
  • Basic mathematical skills and calculation ability are required


Soft Skills:

  • Highly organized and detail orientated
  • Ability to think analytically and apply sound judgment, solve problems, make effective decisions, and act with integrity
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Skill in mentoring and training employees with varying educational backgrounds and aptitudes


Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing
  • May be required to work long and unpredictable hours
  • Working on a computer for 6-8 hours a day
  • Sitting at a desk for 6-8 hours a day
